“After listening to their self-titled debut, it really begs the question as to why they are not more well-known. …A very successful female duo that comes to mind is Tegan & Sara, and honestly with the right promotion and someone backing Lion’s Mouth, they could go just as far – all of the elements for success are present with this duo.” -Wendy Redden, TheRevue.ca
“Lion’s Mouth is killing it in the studio right now! If you’re not listening, you should be.” -Live@WSUM 91.7FM Radio Session, Madison, WI
“Lion’s Mouth hits it hard and heavy. This duo act is on fire. If you get a chance to hear this outfit. I highly recommend them.” – Ari John White, Red Dragon TV
“Daring” “5 out of 5 stars” -WordKrapht.com
“An exceptionally fine effort.” -John Noyd, Maximum Ink Magazine

Lion’s Mouth is a drum and guitar duo that pumps out more sound and energy than your average four piece band. Swift, driving beats burst from Sara Wexler’s sticks hitting you like a well-timed punch. As you lie breathless on the floor, Chelsea Z.’s “amazingly sweet voice” (105.5 TripleM) and “five-piece orchestra” (Music Without Boundaries) guitar work pull you back up to your feet. These dynamic styles create upbeat, two-fisted confessions.

The women of Lion’s Mouth pump out more sound and energy than your average four piece band. Singer and guitarist Chelsea Z. has a past full of dangerous hobbies which include training as a volunteer firefighter and playing ice hockey. Percussionist Sara Wexler is a double-edged sword having studied both Tae Kwon Do and drums since she was in elementary school. These dynamic styles combine to create forceful, two-fisted confessions.
Since forming in 2012, Lion’s Mouth has racked up an impressive list of venues including The Hotel Cafe, the House of Blues (LA) and festival slots including two appearances at PrideFest Milwaukee, and a Live @ WSUM radio session (WSUM 91.7FM). They have a commanding stage presence with a side of humorous banter that has won over diverse audiences.
Their debut album Lion’s Mouth has been called “daring” (WordKrapht.com) and a “tightly knitted symphony between drums, guitar and vocals” (Maximum Ink Magazine). “A very successful female duo that comes to mind is Tegan & Sara, and honestly with the right promotion and someone backing Lion’s Mouth, they could go just as far – all of the elements for success are present with this duo.” (Wendy Redden, TheRevue.ca)
After selling everything that couldn’t fit in a van and moving from Madison, WI to Los Angeles, they have started work on their sophomore album. “Moving Song” was released December 2018 and is the first in a series of singles that will be released over the next year. The song was entirely written, produced, and recorded by the band.
When they are not playing music, Sara and Chelsea like walking, climbing trees, and eating tofu-cream cheese bagels.
